Alchemie Technology Transforming Textile and Apparel Industries

Author:

Harry Vine, Product Specialist, Alchemie Technology, Duxford, Cambridgeshire, UK

Question: Please introduce yourself and tell us your position.

Harry Vine: Hi, I’m Harry Vine and I’m the Product Specialist at Alchemie. I’ve been with the company for two years now. I work within the commercial side of the business providing technical information, meeting with customers externally, as well as attending events.

Question: Who is Alchemie?

Harry Vine: We have spent over 10 years developing a low water, low energy, textile dyeing solution to combat the massive water and energy consumption used in the textile dyeing process.

Question: What is Alchemie’s mission?

Harry Vine: Textile dyeing is the second largest contributor to global industrial wastewater pollution, directly affecting millions of people.

With a growing global population, increasing use of synthetics like polyester, and with fast fashion generating 35kg of fabric per person in the US and 26kg per person in the EU, emissions are set to reach 2.5 gigatonnes before 2050.

We at Alchemie aim to decarbonise the textile industry, assist its evolution into a non-polluting clean-tech industry, and reduce climate change.

This video provides a brief overview of Alchemie’s Endeavour™ digital dyeing system.

Question: How is your tech reducing pollution?

Harry Vine: Our technology combines a large droplet size and high droplet velocity to deliver unrivalled penetration into the textile.

Our production systems offer massive water, energy, and chemistry savings, as well as the elimination of wastewater from wet processing of textiles.

Question: What is Discovery?

Harry Vine: Discovery is a research tool to create and store dye recipes, providing fast colour-matching, and eliminates traditional processes.

Discovery allows you to get a hands-on understanding of our technology by trialling fabrics on an A5 scale. Discovery allows brands, innovators, and research hubs to trial their own fabrics, store them as recipes and formulations, and also export them to our Endeavour™ production system.

The introduction of Discovery in the US will be September 16-17, 2024 at the Digital Textile Manufacturing Technologies Conference 2024 in Charlotte, North Carolina. Click here to register for the conference and see Discovery as well as participate in the first North American conference focusing on The Digital Textile Revolution! The Future of the Textile/Apparel Industries is Digital and Sustainable!
